Simple Gestures in Complex Times

Another awesome little story emerging from this awfulness - See below from Brigham and Women's Hospital...

A personal note first...

The one thing I remember about each of my hospital stays is the nurses.

The nurses, the nurses, the nurses...

I don't think they really have a true notion of the impact they have on the patients themselves of course, but also and in particular, on the families of those patients.

I'll share some of those experiences in future posts, as they powerful, lasting memories and emotions that will never leave me.

I'm sure none of those children or loved ones will ever forget these buttons - Such a simple, sweet gesture that will stay with them forever.

Well done, Courtney...Well done.

"I am a child life specialist in Radiation Oncology. The kids coming for treatment didn’t like that they could not see our faces under our masks. I decided to make photo buttons so they could see us and a friendly smile. The pediatric patients loved it, so I made them for the whole staff so that both pediatric and adult patients could see that same friendly smile of the doctors, nurses, MA, and radiation therapists treating them every day. Going through cancer treatment is scary enough, so that smile along with the amazing amount of compassion the staff has makes everyone feel comfortable during this unprecedented time.”
